What happened?

From September 2nd to 6th, 2024, we held our second international Summer School.

This time, the Summer School didn’t take place at TU Berlin like last year, but at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. With around 215,000 inhabitants, Trondheim is Norway’s third-largest city, after Oslo and Bergen.

Who was there?

In total, 14 students from the teaching and educational sciences programs at TU Berlin and NTNU participated along with lecturers from both universities and the MOVE IT! project team. Many of the students had already participated in the tandem program MOTIVATE!, but we also welcomed some new faces.

What did we do?

The week was packed with a diverse program of exciting inputs, workshops, excursions, and plenty of free time to explore the city.

…we got to know the NTNU campus and visited workshops where students learn hands-on skills, like making natural dyes from wild plants and dyeing wool.

…we visited the Science Center and had fun trying out the many fascinating experiments.

…we participated in a music workshop, where we creatively told a short story we made up using music and improv theater.

…we played fun games to get to know each other better and shared our expectations and wishes for the week.

…we took a trip to the small town of Røros, enjoyed the stunning Norwegian landscapes, and even toured an old copper mine.

…we had discussions about the essential skills educators need in the 21st century, and after visiting two schools, we reflected on how schools in Germany and Norway differ, what they have in common, and what we can learn from each other.

What’s next?

The international Summer School is planned to take place annually at different locations in the future. If you’re interested in joining, keep an eye out for announcements and emails at your university, or feel free to reach out to us directly via the contact form.
