Fireside chats on diversity & school

We are happy to have had our first MOVE IT! fireside event this past Tuesday. Our topic for this evening was: “In need of intercultural competences? Chances and challenges of teaching in a diverse Migration Society”. The fireside chats are part of the Internationalisation@home offerings of MOVE IT!. Those events bring together students, practising teachers and other school professionals in an informal atmosphere to exchange experiences about and questions on the importance of diversity and interculturality in everyday school life. Due to the pandemic situation, the fireside chats are taking place digitally at the moment.

For our fireside events we are currently cooperating with the Berlin based association duvia e.V. which brings a lot of expertise in the field of democracy education and workshops around diversity. At our kick-off event, we welcomed two guests who work as a teacher and social worker at a school in Berlin. They gave us exciting insights into their everyday school life as well as the chances and challenges that arise with regard to diversity and discrimination. The students asked many questions and shared their own experiences which enabled us to talk about various important topics.

The next fireside chat will take place on 22 March 2022 from 19:00 – 20:30h. All SETUB students of TU Berlin and of our partner universities are very welcome to join. Note: The chats are held in German. To get the corresponding Zoom link, send us an email.
